A hundred and eighty artists from 80 countries pay tribute to the Olympic ideals, by participating in the Olympics of Visual Arts, the great Olympic feast of Art. Starting from Atlanta in 1996, the Olympics of Visual Arts is held for the second time in Athens -richer and more dynamic that ever- aiming at becoming the cultural event-institution of each future Olympic Games.
Hosted in a specially constructed space -an old factory- of 7,000sqm on Petrou Ralli Avenue, in the district of Tavros, artists-cultural ambassadors from every corner of the planet converse with the Olympic ideals in a multi-cultural feast: a supranational art dialogue of young artists-athletes where the experienced national background of their art production embraces the modern cultural reality.
The Olympics of Visual Arts is organized by the Artiade non-profit Cultural Foundation, which has already begun the preparation for the organization of the next Olympics of Visual Arts that are to take place in Beijing in 2008. The main aim of the foundation is the establishment of the institution of the Olympics of Visual Arts as an integral and organic part of each Olympic Games, reviving thus the Greek tradition of the Olympic Games, where artists and athletes conversed on equal terms.
